Modify central distribution list owners in Outlook Web Access (OWA)
Owners of a distribution list are able to modify how the list works and what email addresses the list goes to.
Please note...
- It is advisable to have at least two owners to a list in case the other person is unavailable to make necessary changes.
- If you are an owner of a list and no longer wish be an owner, then you will need to get another person with owner rights to remove you.
Before you start...
- You must be a registered owner of the distribution list to make changes.
- Check your browser compatibility to ensure you meet the minimum requirements for using Outlook Web Access (OWA).
Instructions
- Sign in to Outlook Web Access and go to the distribution group management portal.
- Select the Groups tab on the left.
- Under Groups I own, click on the list you want to change. You can search for a group by typing all or part of its name in the search box, and then pressing Enter. To clear the search results, click the X in the search box.
- A new pane will open with details about your central distribution list.
To add owners:
- Select the Members tab, and beneath Owners, select View all and manage owners.
- A new pane will open. Select the Add owners button. In the search box type the name, user ID or email address of the new member, then press Enter.
- Select the user from the results returned.
- Repeat the steps 2 and 3 to search and select any other new owners. The Add button will update to reflect the number of new owners as you select them.
- Once you’ve added all desired owners, click Add and close the pane using the X in the top right corner.
The new owners will appear shortly under the Owners tab for the list.
To remove owners:
- Select the Members tab, and beneath Owners, select View all and manage owners.
- Select the persons(s) you wish to remove. Select the Delete button and confirm by selecting Yes in the pop-up box.
- Close the Owners window.
Note: If you select the wrong people to remove or add, click on the X in the top left to close the window. This will exit the list without saving any changes.
