Meet and Greet - supporting our academic colleagues
2 October 2024
Start of Session can be a busy and stressful period for our academic colleagues, especially those who have recently joined UCL. ISD's Meet and Greet service helps support teaching staff with AV equipment to ensure a good start to the new academic year.
This year the ISD Digital Campus team led an inspiring initiative to enhance the experience of the start of term for our lecturers. The ‘Meet and Greet’ sessions in UCL’s largest lecture theatres are designed to provide crucial support during a particularly busy and stressful period for our academic colleagues.
27 volunteers from across ISD teams, along with 5 student helpers, are supporting 450 sessions in major lecture theatres including UCL East.
The volunteers were based in the lecture spaces ensuring that lecturers were guided through using the AV equipment and received any support needed in a timely manner. This allowed them to focus on delivering high quality lectures for UCL students. This service also helps to foster a sense of camaraderie with our academic colleagues and connects our staff with university life.
Here’s a couple of quotes we’ve had this year:
Dr Naji Makarem

Prof Sal Purton
“ Its great to have the extra support on occasions when I am completely stuffed
