Ege

Where were you during the Pre-University Online Course?

I am from Istanbul, Turkey, and I study at ALKEV High School.

Studying in my high school is more localised, focusing on the Turkish and German education systems, while studying with UCL was a new experience that gave me a more global perspective.

The difference was clear in how academic discussions were more diverse and international in scope at UCL compared to my usual classes.

During the course, I explored subjects beyond my regular curriculum, broadening my understanding of global topics.

Why did you choose the Pre-University Online Course?

The reputation of UCL and its global recognition first attracted me to the course.

I’ve always admired UCL’s academic standards, and I knew that joining a pre-university programme here would be an excellent preparation for my future studies.

I was also eager to experience the teaching methods used in a world-class institution like UCL, and it gave me a chance to see if the university environment aligns with my ambitions of studying business management.

Do you have any personal highlights from the course and why?

One of my favorite topics was related to entrepreneurship and business strategy. It resonated with my long-term goals of running my own business.

I remember a class where we analysed real-world case studies – it was eye-opening and practical, helping me think critically about challenges faced in the business world.

The discussions we had with students from different backgrounds gave me insights I wouldn’t have gained otherwise.

Which skills have you developed during the course?

The course helped me refine my study habits, especially in self-discipline and time management, which are essential for online learning.

My English communication skills also improved, particularly in academic writing and presenting ideas clearly in discussions.

Additionally, I developed a better understanding of how to research topics, organise my thoughts, and deliver presentations confidently.

What do you want to do once you’ve finished high school?

After high school, I plan to pursue a degree in Business Management, ideally at UCL.

I’m focused on entering the business world, where I want to apply the skills and knowledge I’ve been developing.

My goal is to eventually establish and grow my own business, making a meaningful impact in the field I choose to specialise in.

What advice would you give to future Pre-University Online Course students?

I wish I had known how important it is to manage your time effectively in an online course. Balancing your schoolwork with the course requires good organisation.

I would advise future students to actively participate in discussions – it’s where you learn the most and build connections.

I was initially worried about how engaging the course would be, but it turned out to be much more interactive and rewarding than I expected.

Don’t hesitate to ask questions and get involved. It’s a chance to learn from both the instructors and your peers from around the world.
