Professor Maria Lee, Professor of Law at UCL Laws, has been appointed as a specialist advisor as part of a parliamentary inquiry into the Environment Bill.

The inquiry, launched by the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Committee, will scrutinise the Environment Bill and encourages proposals for specific amendments to the Environment Bill, as outlined by the Terms of Reference.

On 15 October, the Government introduced the Environment Bill to help “ensure that we maintain and improve our environmental protections as we leave the EU”. The full Environment Bill covers environmental principles and governance alongside other key areas, including: waste and resource efficiency; air quality and environmental recall; water; nature and biodiversity; and conservation covenants.
