Fees, Funding and Scholarships

Tuition fees

Tuition fees cover a comprehensive range of services and resources essential to your academic journey, including academic services (tuition, registration, examinations), learning resources (library access and online resources), support services (academic, careers service, counselling and wellbeing) and Technology and Facilities (IT services, campus facilities).

Detailed fee schedules for each academic year are available on the UCL Current Students website.

The fees listed below are for the first year of study. Fees may increase in subsequent years by up to 5% to reflect UCL's increased costs in delivering the programme.

UK students

  • Full-time Masters in Law LLM 2025-26: £24,100
  • Part-time Masters in Law LLM 2025-26: £12,050 

International students

  • Full-time Masters in Law LLM 2025-26: £36,500
  • Part-time Masters in Law LLM 2025-26: £18,250

To secure your place, at least one-third of your tuition fee must be paid before or at enrolment, or you must provide a letter of sponsorship.

Living costs

In addition to tuition, you’ll need to consider living expenses, including accommodation, food, travel, and other daily costs. Find more information about managing your money on the UCL Prospective Students website.

Government funding

The British government offers a range of funding options for postgraduate study, including loans, studentships, bursaries, and grants. Visit the government website for further information.

Scholarships

UCL Laws offers various scholarships to support students, including those facing financial hardships and those with outstanding academic achievements.  

We are excited to announce that for the academic years 2025/26 and 2026/27, we will be offering UCL200 scholarships in anticipation of UCL's Bicentennial celebrations. As a Faculty committed to excellence and innovation, we have consistently pushed the boundaries of legal education and scholarship, and through these scholarships, we aim to continue this tradition. 

UCL200 LLM Academic Excellence Scholarship 2025-26

The UCL200 Laws Academic Excellence Scholarships are designed to support individuals with outstanding academic achievements to study UCL’s LLM. These scholarships provide a £10,000 fee reduction and are not means-tested.

Academic Excellence Scholarship Application Form
UCL200 LLM Opportunity Scholarship 2025-26

The UCL200 Laws LLM Opportunity Scholarships are designed to make our LLM accessible to UK-domiciled students who have been, and are, of limited means.

These means-tested scholarships provide full fee waiver and £15,000 maintenance. Students applying for the means-tested scholarships must meet the standard UCL LLM entry requirements.

How to apply
Submit your completed Opportunity Scholarship application form via the link below. Please refer to the Opportunity Scholarship and Future Scholars' Award guidance document when completing the application form. As part of the application process, shortlisted candidates will be invited to an interview that will decide the final allocation of the scholarship.

LLM Opportunity Scholarship Application Form
UCL200 LLM Future Scholars' Award 2025-26

The UCL200 Laws Future Scholars' Awards are designed to increase the accessibility of our LLM to UK-domiciled individuals who have been, and are, of limited means, and who intend to use their LLM as a stepping stone to doctoral studies.

These means-tested scholarships provide full fee waiver and £15,000 maintenance. Students applying for the means-tested scholarships must meet the standard UCL LLM entry requirements.

How to apply
Submit your completed Future Scholars' Award application form via the link below. Please refer to the Opportunity Scholarship and Future Scholars' Award guidance document when completing the application form. You should provide a (max) 1500 word statement setting out the area of scholarship that you intend to explore in your PhD, what interests you about your intended area of study, and why you believe an LLM at UCL will contribute to your plans to be an academic. As part of the application process, shortlisted candidates will be invited to an interview that will decide the final allocation of the award.

LLM Future Scholars' Award Application Form
Vinson Chu PKU/ UCL Scholarship

With support from the Vinson & Cissy Chu Charitable Foundation, the Vinson Chu PKU/ UCL Scholarship is eligible to Chinese law graduates of Peking University who show outstanding potential and who need financial assistance to pursue a full-time LLM degree at UCL Laws. One scholarship will be awarded per year and will cover overseas full-time tuition fees for the LLM course. The award is conditional upon the scholar being offered a place at UCL. Pius Langa Memorial Fellowship

Named in honour of the former Chief Justice and launched in 2021, this award is eligible to young lawyers in South Africa committed to forwarding constitutional and human rights law in South Africa and / or Africa. One fellowship will be awarded per year and will cover a full tuition waiver from UCL and an award of GBP21,800, funded by charity South African Constitutional Court Trust, which is specifically intended to cover travel and living expenses associated with studies. Fellows must include at least one module relating to human rights or constitutional law as part of the LLM studies. For more information see the Constitutional Court Trust website
