Awarded the compensation for the enslaved people on Ovens Mouth Barbados as owner, and with Constantine Estwick Trent and Sir George Henry Dashwood bart. (both of whom q.v.) also awarded the compensation for the enslaved people on the Spring, Over Hill and Ashton Hall estates on Barbados as devizees in trust of Harrison Walker Sober (q.v.).
John Trent, son of John of Spet[i]sbury, matriculated Queen's Oxford 05/05/1813 aged 19.
Marriage 10/05/1834 by special license, at Alne, John Constantine Trent Esq. of Oversmouth, in Barbadoes, a Captain in the Royal Horse Guards, to Frances Sophie, eldest daughter of Edward Swainston Strangways, Esq. of Alne Hall, Yorkshire.
Will of John Constantine Trent Capt HM Regiment of Horse Guards and Major in the British Army of 41 Lowndes Street Belgrave Square proved 06/02/1847. In his will (dated 30/05/1844) he refers to the sale for £10,000 of an estate in Barbados on which he had secured a jointure of £500 p.a. for his wife Frances Sophia on their marriage: given the sale, he instead covenanted to pay his widow £500 'if she survives me.'
