Possibly the son of Roger Swire of Halifax, a junior branch of the Swires of Cononley Yorkshire. Burke's Landed Gentry shows Roger Swire resident in Jamaica, the son of Roger of Halifax and grandson of John Swire of Skipton, marrying Frances Lydia Cox and having ten children with her, including another Roger.

Genealogical material online shows Roger Henry Swire (1792-1841) dying at Fort Stewart estate in Jamaica, the son of Roger Swire (d. 1820) of Halifax and father of Roger James Swire (1822-1870).
