Co-executor of Abraham Watson Rutherford (q.v.), and possibly partner, with George Rutherford (q.v.) at Union Court Old Broad Street. He owned large tracts of land and warehouses in Millwall and the Isle of Dogs. In the 1840s he was recorded as naphtha distiller based in Millwall and operating on the land that had previously been designated for the Imperial Plate Glass Company.
Identified in the will of Abraham Watson Rutherford as 'William Jegon of Upper Thames street'. William Jegon's partnership with Marmaduke Jegon as Coal merchants and wharfingers of White Lion Wharf Upper Thames street was dissolved 21/06/1843. William Jegon formerly of Upper Thames Street but late of Florence Street Islington died 27/12/1860 (effects under £8000); Marmaduke died 03/05/1861 effects under £35,000. No trace of the William Jegon who died in 1860 has yet been found in the censuses of 1841 and 1851.
Possibly the father of William Jegon formerly of Kent Villa Commercial Road Old Kent Road but late of Tottenham Court Road, who died 16/11/1865, effects under £4000, relict Sarah Selina Jegon. In 1864 a William Jegon had married Sarah Selina Lewis (born Eastbourne, Kent, 1841), with whom he had at least one daughter: Laura Elizabeth, who married 1. Richard William Elms in 1894 and 2. Jacob Vogt in 1899. After his death his wife remarried to Thomas Nicholls Bruce in 1870.
