J.C.Clarke of Water Lane pursued the compensation for enslaved people on the Derry estate in St Mary Jamaica, which was awarded to the executor of Francis Bowen [probably junior]. Clarke had married one of the daughters of Francis Bowen senior and sought to challenge the transmission of the executorship of the father's will to the son's executors.

Clarke was married to one of Francis Bowen's daughters. 'in whose sight I make this application.' 'I am further inclined to make this application in consequence of Mrs Clarke not having received one penny from the Estate since her father's death.'.
