Of Aberdeen, counterclaimant with other family members on the Granton estate in Grenada as mortgagees. The claim was withdrawn and half the compensation was paid to John Brown as executor of John Ross. Named as a residuary legatee in the will of her father John Ross (died 1833).
At Granton Lodge, Cuparstone Road, Old Machar, in the census of 1851 were John Ross senior's wife Helen Ross, age 69, annuitant, born Old Machar and her three daughters Helen Jane Ross, age 39, Margaret U., age 34, Mary Ross, age 29, and two female servants. All three daughters were born in Grenada.
Margaret Udny Ross died at Sialkot, India, in 1856 aged 42 years (probably while living with her brother-in-law Colonel Gravenor Kirby of the Bengal Artillery).
