Biography

Husband of Mary Trant nee Barrett and father of Dominick Trant (both of whom q.v.).

  1. Will of James Trant of [Montserrat but now residing at] Upper Ryde Isle of Wight proved 12/03/1804. He entailed his estates for his son and the latter's heirs, failing whom to his brother Henry Trant. He left annuities of £50 p.a. each to Francis Rowland, 'now...chaplain' to Lord Newburgh [?], and to Trant's two sisters Frances, the wife of Col. Henry Dillon, and Elizabeth Trant. He had, he said, let [or sub-let] his house on Hans Place.
