Biography

  1. Natural daughter of Dugald Campbell and Susan Johnson (both q.v.). In England from at least 1803 when her mother wrote an indenture assigning enslaved people in trust to Susan Ricketts Johnson and her siblings. In Dalston with her sister Ann Pool Johnson (q.v.) when her father wrote his will in 1813. Very likely the Susan Ricketts Johnson of Clapham who was buried 28/11/1829 in St Matthew's, Brixton age 39, as her sister Ann Pool Ritherdon nee Johnson was in Clapham for the births of two of her children in 1829 and 1831.

  2. Mary, John and William Coultman, age 16, 10 and 3 respectively, the children of unmarried parents John Coultman and Susan Ricketts Johnson, were baptised 30/11/1824 in Hanover. The children were described as "quadroons". These are possibly the children of the same Susan Ricketts Johnson.
