Adm. pens. at ST JOHN'S, Nov. 19, 1785. [S. and h. of Lewis, Esq., of Bath, and of the Clifton Estate, Jamaica, and Jane, dau. of The Hon. George Pinnock, of Kingston, Jamaica. B. in Jamaica.] Matric. Michs. 1785. Kept eight terms by residence. Name off, Oct. 12, 1788. Adm. at Lincoln's Inn, June 7, 1784, as ‘s. of Lewis, Esq., of Bath.’Called to the Bar, 1791. Returned to Jamaica. Usher of the Black Rod, 1806. A member of the Council of Jamaica, 1808. President of the Council, 1825-8. Judge of the Vice-Admiralty Court. Acted as Governor of Jamaica 1832 and 1834. Succeeded his father as Provost-Marshal of the Island. Died in Jamaica. Buried at Belvedere, parish of St Thomas (tomb no longer to be found). (St John's Coll. Adm., IV; C. Roy Hudleston, Bristol Cathedral Reg.)
President of HM Council in Jamaica, and Attorney for Williamsfield (St Thomas-in-the-Vale) and several other estates, for at least the period 1817-1832. Son of Lewis Cuthbert (q.v.), Provost Marshall of Jamaica who died c. 1803.
Died at Belvedere 25/05/1835.
