Thomas Farrar Lancaster

Resident slave-owner in Jamaica, although educated in England and married at Petersham Surrey in 1808. Died in November 1821. Son of Thomas Lancaster.

1. "Thomas Lancaster of Eccleston in St. David's, died there April 1800. Besides a dau. Cath. Robinson, who mar. 22 Dec. 1795 Lieut.-Col. David Byron Davies, he left a son Thomas Farrar Lancaster of Content and Eccleston, who matriculated from Trinity College, Oxford, 10 Dec. 1806 aged 20. In the "Jamaica Magazine" is the following obituary notice:- .1812, July. At Content, in St. Davids, on the 14th inst. Caroline, wife of Thomas F. Lancaster, Esq. of that property: This highly accomplished and much respected Lady survived, her sister Mrs. Tait, but five weeks, whose early fate but too severely operated on her affectionate mind; she was buried the following day at Mount-Charles in the same parish by the side of her beloved sister attended to her grave by many who knew her worth and who testified by their sorrow the loss society bad sustained by her premature death: She died as she had lived exalted pattern for imitation. (" Jamaica Mag.," i., 358.)"

2. Thomas Farrar Lancaster married Caroline Tallemach 14/01/1808 in Petersham, Surrey.

3. Thomas Farrar Lancaster, son of Thomas, of St David's, Jamaica, matriculated Trinity College Oxford, 10/12/1806 age 20.

4. Thomas Vernon Lancaster aged 11 months, son of Thomas Farrer Lancaster and Theophan[i]a Jane Vernon, baptised at Eccleston 21/08/1821 with four infant enslaved people belonging to Thomas F. Lancaster and two enslaved young women: Harriett Fraser (Phebe) aged 17 years and Jessy Lancaster (Lavinia) aged 22 years. Theophana Jane Vernon was the daughter of Catherine Anne Mowbray, "a free quadroon woman" and Thomas Kerr Vernon, born 29/12/1793 and baptised 13/06/1795 in Kingston.

5. "Buried at NewBattle, Thursday 8th November 1821, Thomas Farrar Lancaster Esquire of Eccleston aged [blank] a Magistrate and Asst. Judge."
