Thomas Shepard (or Shepherd) Waith

Slave-owner on Barbados. Waith died in 1805 on his way to England. The Inventory of the Pine estate, Barbados (q.v.) was dated 1 February 1806. Sarah Waith (q.v.) was his widow and several of his children were awarded slave compensation.

Births, Deaths and Marriages from the Barbados Mercury and Bridgetown Gazette 1805-1818’ records the following: Oct 12th 1805 (Deaths) The 12th ult, on his passage to England, Thomas Shepherd Waith esq, of the 'Pine'Plantation. Thomas Shepherd Waith, the father of Joseph William Waith and Thomas Lewis Waith among others, was born in 1759 and died in 1805. His grandson, Thomas Shepherd, the son of Thomas Lewis, was baptized in 1811 and appears to have died young. A 3rd Thomas Shepherd Waith, (1816-1880) was also the son of Thomas Lewis but clearly not a beneficiary deceased at the time of compensation, Pam Griffiths, The Waith family of Barbados and Guyana and associated families, mainly in Barbados (January 2009), available at Waith family geneaology.
