Biography

Husband of Rose Milles nee Gardiner (q.v.).

Will of Jeremiah Milles of Harley Street proved 13/05/1797. He instructed his brother and executor Thomas Milles after his and his wife's death to erect a monument to the couple and to his wife's father and mother Edward Gardiner and Rose Gardiner at Sawbridgeworth Church. His will identifies his father as the Dean of Exeter. He bequeathed his leasehold house in Harley Street, Pishiobury in Hertfordshire and land in Ireland for his wife for life and then to his heirs, who turned out to be his daughter Rose. In a codicil of 1789 he left £1000 to his wife and a further £500 to his brother Thomas (making £1500 in total; in a further codicil of 1796 he left a further £1000 to his brother). Both will and codicil are silent on the ownership of slave-property in Jamaica.
