Merchant of St Michael Barbados and Greenock Scotland, and connected with though not apparently a partner in Hamilton, Garden (q.v.). He bought Brighton [Wiltshires] estate in St George, Barbados in 1802. He was the father of Arthur Oughterson (q.v.) and husband of Mary Ann Sheafe (who died in 1802). Deceased before the 1817 Barbados Slave Register; his testament was confirmed by the commissariat in Glasgow 02/07/1817.
