1740 - 1806
This is almost certainly William Nedham MP for Winchelsea and Pontefract, son of Robert Nedham (q.v.), from whom he inherited Water Valley in St Mary Jamaica [and the enslaved people upon it]. If so, his mother was Catherine, daughter of Robert Pitt MP and sister of Thomas Pitt sen. and William, 1st Earl of Chatham. The History of Parliament says that 'Nedham belonged to a family long established in Jamaica, but neither he nor his father lived there', in which case the William Nedham who was acting as an attorney of the estate before Robert Nedham's death must have been a different man. His will 'of Waresley Huntingtdonshire' proved 02/05/1806 was silent on property in Jamaica or in people.
