Haughton, son of Haughton James, was baptised in St Catherine, Jamaica, 05/03/1737/8.
A transcription of the will of Haughton James [made in 1812 an proved in 1813] is carried on Jamaica Family Search. He left Haughton Tower to William Rhodes James (q.v, under William Rhodes James IV), the 'grandson of my late Attorney and cousin William Rhodes James', subject to an annuity of £250 p.a. to Mrs Sarah Read commonly called Mrs Kingston of New Norfolk Street. In a series of codicils he left amounts of £200- £300 to several aristocratic women including Lady Georgiana and Lady Emily Devlin (daughters of the Marquis of Salisbury) and the Countess of Essex, and books and his wines to the Rt Hon. Thomas Grenville and the Earl of Ossay respectively. It is not clear how real these connections were.
Haughton James was listed in the Jamaican Quit Rent books for 1754 as the owner of 1826 acres of land in Westmoreland.
