???? - 1755
'Merchant of Bristol', and major slave-trader with some 58 voyages, most as sole owner, between 1712 and 1747. Shown as previous owner of half the Spring estate in St Andrew Jamaica. His will proved in 1755 is silent on Jamaica property, but identifies his wife's previous husband as William French: 'Mrs James Day' was shown as co-owner in 1752 and Thomas French was co-owner in 1758-1759.
Part ownership of Spring estate came to Mary Day (previously French, nee Elbridge) from her father Aldworth Elbridge, who died when she was an infant. Mary sold her moiety to her uncle Robert Elbridge but then inherited a share from her uncles Robert, Thomas and John upon their deaths.
