1756 - 1790
Eldest son of William Cunninghame, 10th of Craigends and his wife Margaret Cuninghame (his parents had been first cousins). Married Anne, daughter of William McDowall of Garthland and Castle Semple. One son, Wiliam, who predeceased him.
Grandvale had been aquired by his grandfather Alexander 9th of Craigends (1690-1742) and great uncle William Cunninghame (b. 1693), who had married Katherine and Agnes, sisters of Sir James Campbell of Grandvale (d. 1731).
