John Spooner of Bloomsbury Square

1. Will of John Spooner of Bloomsbury [made in 1754] proved 17/01/1758. In the will he recited the settlement made on the marriage of his son John Spooner with Mary Fortescue, including the settlement of estates and enslaved people in St Kitts on his son for life. He left other estates and enslaved people in St Kitts and in Jamaica in trust [his trustees were James Gordon of Moor Park and his son Hungerford Spooner] to pay £200 p.a. to his daughters Mary, Susanna and Elizabeth, and £4000 to each of them on marriage. The estates themselves passed to his son Charles Spooner, also the residuary heir and sole executor.

2. Spooner and Cossley were listed in the Jamaican Quit Rent books for 1754 as the owners of 1881 acres of land in St David.
