Janet Love (née Starret)

Sister of Robert Starret, bequeathed an annuity of £400 per annum chargeable on Mount Rich estate in Grenada.

1. Six children were born to Robert Starret, a schoolmaster, and his wife Christian Watt and baptised in West Kilbride 1766-1776 including Robert (born 08/02/1766), Hellin (born 21/05/1772) and Janet (born 18/06/1772).

2. Daniel Love and Janet Starret, both in this parish, gave in their names the 3rd August and after orderly proclamation were called out and married at Kilmarnock by Mr Jaffery Minr. 1799. Mary Jean Love, daughter of David Love, Sarfter[?] and Carpenter, and Janet Starret, born 02/06/1800 and baptised 14/06/1800 in West Kilbride, Ayrshire. Daniel Love, son of the late Daniel Love, mariner, and Janet Stirret in Kilbride was born 05/02/1803 and baptised 10/09/1803 in West Kilbride.

3. Jannet Love, age 55, of independent means, living at Hawhill in West Kilbride in the census of 1841 with William Morton, age 28, merchant (cloth) and one female servant. Her sister Helen married James Morton in 1799 and her daughter Mary was living in Hawhill (a small hamlet) in 1841.

4. Inventory of the personal estate of Mrs Janet Starret or Love residing at Hawhill in the parish of West Kilbride who died 12/06/1848. Effects £42 19s 9d. Sworn by Major Duncan Grahame of Glenny, presently residing at Hawhill, 11/09/1851.
