Son of David Lyon senior (q.v.), who left him £100,000. He himself left £162,009 18s 10d on his death in 1892. Briefly MP for Seaford at the end of the unreformed House of Commons, when he opposed the Reform Bill: he later reappeared as 'a free trader and a Liberal' in standing unsuccessfully for Marylebone in 1859.
