Son of William James and his wife Frances nee Haughton. Died in 1774, buried in Hanover.
The will of Charles James of Hanover, Esq. was proved in Jamaica 16/04/1774. His residuary legatees were his wife and their children but he also manumitted his "negro" enslaved person named Pamela and her "mulatto" daughter Elizabeth and bequeathed them each £20 Jamaican currency per year for life.
