Biography

Brother and partner of Thomas Collow (q.v.) at Tobago until 1784, dying at Hotwells Bristol 04/06/1803.

  1. Will of John Collow of Stapleton in the county of Dumfries at present residing at Edinburgh [made in 1802] proved 04/02/1815. He said he had spent most of his life in the West Indies and complained of his sicknesses that resulted. He had he said been a partner with his brother Thomas Collow at Tobago until he [the testator] left Tobago in January 1784 for St Vincent where he became Collector of Customs. He made his brother Thomas and William Collow his residuary heirs.
