???? - 1733
Son of Richard Bate of Barbados and Foston, Derbyshire, and his wife Sarah nee Newton.
Inherited Woodland estate in St George, Barbados, from his mother Sarah. Sold the estate to George Newport of London in 1723 for £5,000.

William Bate Esquire was described as of Foston, Derbyshire, brother and heir at law of Raynes Bate deceased late of Foston and the Island of Barbados in 1720. William Bate brought several Chancery cases in the 1720s and 1730s.
William Bate married Arabella Chambers in Scropton, Derbyshire, 20/03/1718. They had four children baptised in Scropton: Sarah (1719), Arabella (1720), Chambers (1724) and Margaret Sophia Penelope (1726).
