Biography

Anglican clergyman and inheritor of enslaved people in Barbados from his father, also named William Gibbes Straghan (q.v.).

  1. Will of Rev. William Gibbes Straghan [formerly of Demerara but now] of Stanwick Northants [but at Paris] [made in 1825] proved 12/10/1836. He left his property to his wife Frances Elizabeth and his two daughters. His will makes no mention of slave-property.
