Sarah Jane Campbell (née Forbes)

Awarded the compensation (as Sarah Jane Campbell) for the enslaved people on Sans Souci in British Guiana with Colin Campbell as executrix and executor of James Campbell.

1. Sarah Jean Campbell, wife of James Campbell of Newton Lodge, West India merchant, a brother of Alexander Campbell of Hallyards (the partner in John Cambell senior), but not himself 'in the firm'.

2. The will of James Dugald Forbes (loyalist and Bahamas planter who died in Stirling in 1820) identifies James Campbell of Newton Lodge as his son-in-law: his daughter Sarah Jean Forbes (born in the Bahamas) married James Campbell (died 1831) 'before 10 August 1816' [i.e. date of will] in Stirling.

3. 'At Melville Place Stirling, James Campbell, merchant Port Glasgow to Miss Sarah Jean Forbes 3rd daughter of Dugald Forbes Esq., Stirling.'

4. Confirmation of Commissariot of Lanarkshire of 28/11/1873 of John Campbell merchant of London and James Campbell merchant of Liverpool and 3 others as executors of Mrs Sarah Jane Forbes or Campbell of 19 Newton Place Glasgow who died at Glasgow 06/11/1873.
