Biography

Awarded a fraction of the compensation for Mackinnon's estate on Antigua, possibly representing a single enslaved person. The bulk of the compensation went to the Mackinnon family, including the MP W.A. Mackinnon (q.v.).

  1. Edward Thomas Cardale baptised at St Andrew Holborn 26/04/1810, son of William and Mary Ann Cardale [nee Bennet[t], grand-daughter and co-heir of Francis Say]. Admitted to Gray's Inn, 24/04/1833. Married Sarah Russell 02/04/1834 at York. In 1841 the couple were living at Podington Bedfordshire, where he was Rector; in 1881 and 1891 Edward Thomas Cardale widower was at Uckfield. Will of Reverend Edward Thomas Cardale of Belmont Uckfield Sussex who died 12/02/1893 proved 20/04/1893, effects £96650 6s 1d, resworn December 1894 £97023 4s 2d.

There is no entry for him in the CCEd [database online], nor apparently in either the Oxford or Cambridge alumni records. Author of religious pamphlets, and editor of the New Testament for the Society for Promoting Christian Knowledge in 1884.
