Son of Richard Hodgson of the East India Company, husband of Sarah H. Cadogan and son-in-law of Sarah Oxley Cadogan (q.v.) and Ward Cadogan (q.v.), whose estates he inherited and whose name he took in 1833.
Born c. 1796 Burgh, Cumberland; married Sarah H. Cadogan at Gretna 26/11/1825 (she was baptised at St Michael, Barbados, 10/04/1810); Army major; death registered Q2 1855 Dartford Kent. Will proved 28/05/1856.
Brinkburn Priory was restored by William Hodgson and Sarah H. Cadogan's son Cadogan Hodgson Cadogan 1858-1867, then inherited by C. H. Cadogan's daughter Eleanor Fenwick.
