A Journey Through Online

Language Learning

Become familiar with Google docs:
1. Open 'docs.google.com' or search for 'Google docs' to find the link
2. Login with your Google details (=e-mail address you used when you created your Google account and corresponding password)
3. Click on 'Create new' and select one of the options. The application then opens in a new tab (so you can always toggle between the main Google docs window and the actual document you are working on)
4. Give your document a title
5. Save the document
6. Look at the sharing options you have.

Activity: Exchange e-mail addresses with a partner
Step 1 create a new document
- Create a new document
- Name it yourFirstName Millennium Bridge (replace yourFirstName with your real first name)
- Save it

Step 2 create content
- Think of three questions regarding the Millennium Bridge and put a capital Q (for question in front of it), e.g. 'Q: What is the bridge's nick name?'
- Write a small paragraph, just one or two sentences, about the bridge (look up the information again, if you can't remember).

Step 3 share the document
- Share | Sharing Settings | Change (!!) | Select 'Anyone with the link'
- Tick 'Allow anyone to edit'
- Save
- In the field 'Add people': enter the e-mail address of your partner (the link is then sent to this e-mail address and your partner can find it in his e-mail account).
- Close
- Sign out of Google docs

Step 4

- Go to the web-based account, e.g. yourname@hotmail
- Find the link your partner sent to you.
- Open the link (without having to login!)

Step 5

- Write the answers behind the questions, e.g. A: 'Wobbly bridge'.
- Save
- Done
