Bartlett Researchers win EPSRC Impact Accelerator Award

5 May 2021

Transport

The Bartlett School of Planning's Prof Stephen Marshall, in conjunction with co-investigators Dr Elsa Arcaute of CASA and Prof Marc-Olivier Coppens of UCL's Centre for Nature Inspired Engineering (CNIE), and doctoral researcher Yuerong Zhang, have won an EPSRC Impact Accelerator Award on the theme 'Transport Data Ecosystems'. The £13,400 award is to exploit potential linkages between Prof Marshall's earlier nature-inspired project, on The Self-Organising Built Environment (funded by a CNIE Inspiration Grant), and the data management mission of the Department for Transport (DfT), where Yuerong Zhang will complete a six month secondment. This innovative, inter-disciplinary work will draw from data environment analogies with ecosystems, applied within the DfT's Transport Infrastructure Skills & Efficiency Strategy Living Lab. Ms Zhang's doctoral research is on metro system resilience in London.
