Freshly minted PhD Nidhi Kapil attends her UCL Graduation Ceremony

18 July 2022

On 12 July 2022, it has been a pleasure to celebrate the (finally, in-person!) graduation of UCL Engineering graduates. This included recent PhD graduate Dr Nidhi Kapil , who completed her PhD in 2021 in the NICE Group in the Centre for Nature Inspired Engineering (CNIE), under the guidance of Prof. Marc-Olivier Coppens, and sponsored by SABIC.

A fabulous achievement for an outstanding thesis (also selected for publication by Springer as a book) on a remarkably stable and selective, supported Au nanoparticle catalyst for propylene epoxidation, with further excursions in electrocatalysis and nanomaterials to combat antimicrobial resistance (AMR).

The CNIE is very lucky to have Dr Kapil continue her work with us as Research Fellow on sustainable manufacturing through our recently awarded EPSRC Sustainable Manufacturing grant “NOSTOS: Nature-inspired biO-Syngas Technologies for Olefins Synthesis” (led by Dr Massimiliano Materazzi, in collaboration with Prof Marc-Olivier Coppens, Prof Paola Lettieri, Dr Andrea Paulillo, and Prof Nilay Shah). She will also continue her research on nature-inspired approaches to combat AMR.

Many congratulations to Dr Nidhi Kapil, and to all UCL and UCL Chemical Engineering graduates!
