UCL Staff survey 2011: full results now available
16 March 2012
Further to the headline results which were published in the Week@UCL on 17 February, the full results are now available as well an executive summary.
The survey results indicate that we should:
a. celebrate and consolidate
i. high levels of pride and advocacy of UCL as an employer;
ii. that most employees are interested in their work and gain a sense of personal accomplishment from it; and,
iii. that most employees have a degree of freedom and autonomy in how they work.
b. improve
i. awareness of the values of UCL and how the goals and objectives of staff align to those of the University overall ;
ii. perceptions of the availability of resources and equipment required to work effectively; and,
iii. confidence in leadership and managerial competency.
c. investigate further
i. how communications can be built upon to further embed the values and direction of UCL;
ii. whether line managers/academic leaders fully understand the scope of their role; and,
iii. whether there is a need to manage employees' expectations about benefits.
Next Steps
A corporate action plan is being developed that addresses the cross cutting organisational issues highlighted above.
Each
Dean, Vice-Provost and Head of Corporate Support Services Division has been
provided with results for their Faculty or Division. Based on this local survey
data, the Provost, on the advice of the Senior Management Team (SMT), has
agreed that each Faculty and Division will identify three areas to celebrate,
three areas to improve and three to investigate further and will define clear
action plans with improvement outcomes and measures.
On the basis of this analysis Deans and Vice-Provosts will report back to the Provost's SMT every six months on progress with implementation. Staff will be notified by their Dean, Vice-Provost or Head as to how they can be involved in such local action planning.
