UCL News Podcast (18/05/12) - One Day in the City
18 May 2012
The UCL News podcast gives you the opportunity to listen to the latest news and research from around UCL every fortnight.
On this podcast we have a selection of the most recent UCL headlines, along with the Petrie Museum's Tracey Golding describing some of their most famous exhibits, and Nick Shepley, from the UCL Department of English, talking about the upcoming 'One Day in the City' London literary festival.
Part 1 - News
Media Relations manager Henry Rummins tells us about the 2012 UCL Awards for Enterprise. We also talk about the genetics behind butterflies' beautiful wing patterns, and the latest exhibition at the UCL Art Museum.
Part 2 - One Day in the City
London has long played an important role in the literary world, and to celebrate this Nick Shepley and colleagues from UCL Department of English have organised 'One Day in the City' on 15th June.
Featuring Man Booker Prize-winners A.S. Byatt and Alan Hollinghurst - and also Will Self - the festival includes readings, talks and debates, along with two exhibitions at the UCL Art Museum and South Cloisters. Tickets are free, so sign-up and get them while you can!
Part 3 - Pot burial at the Petrie
At UCL we've got some pretty amazing museums, so over the next few months we're going to feature some of the wonderful objects in the Grant Museum of Zoology, The Petrie Museum of Egyptian Archaeology and the Art museum. This week, we went down to chat to Tracey Golding, Visitor Services Officer at the Petrie, to find out more about ancient Egypt, Sudan, and some of the wonderful antiquities tucked away in the museum.
