UCL Festival of Volunteering
21 May 2013
Riding on the success of last year's Festival, UCL and UCLU are running the two-week Festival of Volunteering this summer.
There
will be lots of things to choose from throughout the fortnight, including tea
parties, a ceilidh, science busking, volunteering with Hackney Pirates, going
on a run with Good Gym, gardening, arts festivals, plus lots of workshops and
one-off volunteering events.
You can also find out about volunteering on a longer-term basis by looking through the programme brochure at the summer opportunities and coming along to one of the Volunteering Advice Sessions in the Volunteering Services Unit (VSU) in the Lewis's Building.
John Braime of the VSU explained: "UCL is
becoming well known as a place where students want to engage with the
community. They want to feel as if they're taking part in the life of London,
and recognise that volunteering is a good way to do it.
"We've organised this fortnight to make it easy for students to get involved, and to give them a taste of what volunteering is all about."
Staff from the VSU will be in the Front Quad every day during the Festival from 11am until 3pm, 22nd May - 4th June, to answer questions and give advice about current London-based volunteering opportunities.
