Microsoft Teams to be tested as the new telephony solution for UCL

4 September 2019

Later this year, a pilot of Teams telephony will be conducted to enable the upgrade of UCL’s telephone systems. The first step involves replacing Skype for Business with Microsoft Teams.

Microsoft Teams to be tested as the new telephony solution for UCL

Microsoft Teams is a chat-based, collaboration workspace in Office 365 that makes it easy to have conversations, host meetings online and share and work on documents together. It also incorporates telephony functionality bringing all your communication and collaboration needs into a single workspace.

Microsoft Teams is now an officially supported application at UCL.

Teams has been available for UCL staff and students to use for some time and there are already 2500 users adopting new ways of communicating and collaborating.

Over the coming months the Unified Communication and Collaboration (UCC) Project will move existing Skype for Business users to Microsoft Teams and conduct a pilot of Teams as the telephony solution for UCL. The pilot will be the first step towards implementing a new telephony system across UCL. You will be contacted directly when these activities will impact you.
