Christmas and New Year postal dates 2021

With Christmas fast approaching, it is important that staff are aware of the last posting dates for mail over the Christmas period.

The latest dates that mail can be accepted into the Post Room for intended delivery to addressees prior to Christmas are:

UK Mail

Friday 17th December - Second Class, 2^nd Class Signed for (Recorded) & Royal Mail 48

Tuesday 21st December - First Class, 1^st Class Signed for (Recorded) Royal Mail 24 & tracked 48

Wednesday 22nd December -  Royal Mail tracked 24

Thursday 23rd December - Special Delivery Guaranteed

International Airmail 

Wednesday 1st December – Caribbean

Monday 6th December – Australia, New Zealand, Greece, Italy & Portugal

Wednesday 8th December  - Africa, Asia, Central and South America, Far & Middle East.

Friday 10th December – Cyprus, Sweden Malta, Turkey & Eastern Europe, (Except Czech Republic Poland and Slovakia),

Monday 13th December – Canada, Czech Republic, Finland, Poland, & USA.

Thursday 16th December - Austria, Denmark, Germany, Iceland, Netherlands, Norway, Slovakia, Spain, Switzerland, Belgium, France, Ireland & Luxembourg.

HM Forces - BFPO parcels can be posted free of charge via the UCL Mail Service 

Monday 29th November - HM Forces Post Office (Operational)

Monday 6th December – HM Forces Mail to Non-Operational or Static BFPO’s.

Bulk Mailings

The UCL Mail Service will accept bulk mailings up to and including Monday 20^th December.  After this date no bulk mailings will be accepted without prior consultation with the Mail Services Manager (Kevin Owen Ext 07128 k.owen@ucl.ac.uk). 

Personal items

UCL’s mail service is not to be used for personal mail and parcels. The Post Room will not frank or dispatch personal items. Any suspected abuse of the service will be investigated.

Closure dates 

• The UCL Mail Service will close at 14.00 Thursday 23rd December and re-open at 07.00 on Tuesday 4th January.
• There will be no access to the Post Room between these dates. The last collection of departmental post will take place between 11.30 and 13.00 on Thursday 23rd December to ensure dispatch on the last working day.

As with previous years, the Post Room will be extremely busy during the pre-Christmas period, as Departments look to clear their desks for the seasonal break. To ease the pressure on the team, we ask all staff to adhere to the cut-off dates detailed above.
