With the threat of cybercrime ever present, the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) has requested all HE institutions run annual information security training due to the significant risks and impacts being seen across the sector. UMC and Audit Committee have listed cyber security as in the top 6 of risks that could harm UCL, part of our agreed mitigation is ensuring all staff complete annual training.

What is CybSafe?

CybSafe is a more immersive cyber security training tool which contains up-to-date training and a knowledgebase. It is an NCSC approved learning platform with short, engaging modules which should take no longer than 30 minutes to complete. It uses UCL Single Sign-On to login and everyone is pre-registered for ease.

All staff will soon receive an email inviting you to complete the new information security mandatory training on CybSafe. The email will be sent from donotreply@cybsafe.com.

Who needs to complete the Information Security Training on Cybsafe?

ALL staff must complete the CybSafe training this year regardless of prior completion of the old information security training on LearnUpon. Staff who have already completed the CybSafe training do not need to repeat.

As with other mandatory training courses, CybSafe will need to be completed within 4 weeks of being invited.

Although staff will receive an invitation email, the course can already be accessed via the UCL Mandatory Training webpage

Should you have any queries or issues please contact the UCL Information Security Group at: isg@ucl.ac.uk

Would you like to help UCL researchers improve cybersecurity training (and possibly win an iPad)?

In line with our use of Cybsafe, UCL researchers are running an independent study on how to improve phishing detection. We need volunteers to take a few minutes of their time to help. Participation includes the chance to win an iPad. If you would like to take part in this study, please register your interest here
