A study led by Dr Nick Lane (UCL Genetics, Evolution &
Environment) and Victor Sojo (UCL CoMPLEX/Biosciences) suggests that life's Last Universal Common Ancestor (LUCA) had a
'leaky' membrane, which can offer clues as to how humans and other life evolved
and grew.
