Job description

The purpose of these jobs is to support teaching and learning in our modules, working with the academic module leads through the delivery of teaching for students taking modules in the Biochemical Enginnering Department.

We have “Laboratory PGTA” and “Lecture PGTA”. Main duties of the “Laboratory PGTA” include laboratory and tutorial class teaching and coursework marking.  Main duties of the “Lecture PGTA” include mainly coursework assessment and marking. 

Teaching Assistants will be trained and will be supported by the department to fulfill their roles including general training on aspects of Teaching and Learning and academic policies. All PGTAs will be trained on how to review student assessments for marking and feedback. Laboratory PGTAs will receive training on the operation of the equipment or software (for tutorials). Lecture PGTAs will be trained on how to use learning technologies (e.g. virtual learning environment such as Moodle) and handle online Q&A.

PGTAs are expected to be able to commit their time to assigned modules. The time running the modules, the knowledge or skills required, and estimated loads are shown for each module.

When applying, you may indicate the modules you prefer but we reserve the right to assign to other modules if necessary. The Laboratory PGTA positions are prioritised.
