Number of hours: The minimum amount of expected hours would be 15 and a maximum of 50 per term.
Start date: 2nd October 2024
Duration: Up to 1 year

Job description

The Division of Surgery & Interventional Science (DSIS) would like to appoint 3-8 PGTAs to lead and support student learning and student experience. This includes leading a delivering two co-curricular teaching activities, and to support student assessment and delivery of taught modules delivered to both UG and PG students. The specific roles include: Journal club, Basic cell biology workshops, Assessment and delivery of taught modules.

Key responsibilities

  • Teaching assistance through the facilitation of seminars and/or workshops;
  • Class preparation and meeting with lecturers/module organisers;
  • Marking students' work;
  • Dissertation co-supervision at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level(s);
  • After-class contact time with students, including time-tabled office hours;
  • Giving feedback to students

Requirements for role

  • Undergraduate degree in biomedical science (or related) and or Masters in Biomedical science related subject.
  • Familiarity with critical analysis of scientific literatire
  • Ability to clearly communicate academic content.
  • Ability to organise small-group discussions and learning activities.
  • Ability to support students learning and academic development.
  • Motivation towards gaining academic and professional experience in a university teaching role.
