The aim of this bi-monthly event is to discuss together our practice of science, especially of interdisciplinary. In order to celebrate summer, this session will happen outdoor in Russell Square Gardens (meeting point at the north corner of the park - close to the tube station). Drinks will be provided.
Silvia Grigolon (G. Salbreux's lab) and Ana Lisica (G. Charras's lab) will introduce the discussion's topic.
Doing science is not a straightforward task. In talks or publications, research is traditionally presented as a straight line starting from the question to the final answer. Reality instead unveils a walk of trials and errors, several detours and failed experiments which hopefully end with surprising results. Such a tortuous path can be often unexpected and overwhelming for young researchers. Here, we would like to focus on these essential aspects of the scientific process by discussing the following questions. What are the benefits of it and the drawbacks? What can we learn from this path? How can we make it easier? Should the science culture change in a way that we discuss openly the struggles and difficulties involved in the research process?
