The workshop is aimed for students and postdocs who are familiar with a programming language but would like to learn more about the tools and practices that would help them develop more reliable and efficient codes.
The hands-on workshop will be delivered by the UCL Research Software Development Group (RSDG) and will cover mainly version control and software testing but will also briefly discuss automation and documentation. The team from RSDG will then be joined by the IPLS PIs who will share their experience on developing scientific computational programs and be available for a Q&A session.
The workshop will have the following schedule:
10:00-11:30 Version control
11:30-11:45 Break
11:45-13:00 Version control
13:00-13:45 Lunch break
13:45-15:50 Testing, automation, documentation (include 5min break)
15:50-16:00 Break
16:00-17:00 Panel discussion
