Institute of Clinical Trials and Methodology renews Directorship for Professor Max Parmar

Professor Max Parmar will continue his Directorship at the Institute of Clinical Trials and Methodology for another five years.

The Faculty of Population Health Sciences is pleased to announce that Professor Max Parmar’s position as Director of the UCL Institute of Clinical Trials and Methodology (ICTM) has been renewed for another five years.
 
Mahesh (Max) Parmar is a Professor of Medical Statistics and Epidemiology and Director of both the MRC Clinical Trials Unit at UCL and the Institute of Clinical Trials and Methodology at University College London.
 
Professor Parmar joined the MRC in 1987 and the MRC Unit joined UCL in 2013. A major aim of the Institute is to deliver swifter and more effective translation of scientific research into patient benefits.  It does this by carrying out challenging and innovative studies and by developing and implementing methodological advances in study design, conduct and analysis. Professor Parmar was awarded an OBE in 2019.  Professor Parmar says ‘ I am delighted to be re-appointed in this role. There is no doubt that the Institute is going from strength to strength and is making a real change in improving health outcomes across a range of diseases and in improving the science of clinical trials. The opportunities to further develop this work is very exciting indeed.’
 
UCL Faculty of Population Health Sciences Dean, Professor Ibrahim Abubakar said “I am delighted with the re-appointment of Professor Max Parmar as Director of ICTM. He will continue to lead exciting new strategic research opportunities, building on the robust evidence base generated by research at our clinical trial units to inform policy and practice and improve population health on a national and international level.”
