Arriving in London

UCL doesn't operate an airport transfer, so the first step once you arrive in the UK will be to make your own way to your residence... it's all part of the adventure!

You have a few options depending on which airport you fly into, and how much you want to spend on your journey. Directions from each airport are available below:

Getting to UCL

These directions are from the main London airports to the Bloomsbury campus where teaching for the Summer School takes place. If you're going to your accommodation or elsewhere, these directions will vary.

If you’re looking for a travel buddy, why not reach out to your classmates on Goin' UCL and ask if anyone else will be arriving around the same time as you; maybe you can pair/group together to travel from the airport.

Please don’t worry if this will be your first time coming to London. Most Summer School students are in the same situation and our team is always available to help!

Transport options in London

There are various ways of travelling around London depending on where you are living and your preferences. Please see UCL’s travelling around London page for information on the different options available.

Your accommodation

If you are staying in UCL Accommodation, you can find guidance including directions, check-in times, nearest stations and facilities on individual accommodation pages: linked to from our accommodation pages.

Summer School accommodation

UCL accommodation consists of dedicated flats comprising single-occupancy bedrooms with en-suite facilities (St Pancras Way) or a shared bathroom (Astor College, Goldsmid and Schafer House) and shared kitchen.

  • Flats are cleaned once a week

  • Bedding is provided and the linen and towels will be changed once a week.

  • Kitchens are equipped with a fridge-freezer, oven, microwave and kettle.

We recommend bringing some basics with you such as a (travel) mug and cutlery and perhaps even a plate or a bowl.

We do not recommend bringing bulky items like pots and pans as these can easily be purchased in London and it is more cost effective to organise buying these with the students you will be sharing a kitchen with.

If you have any questions about the accommodation, or your booking, please read through our FAQs, or contact the UCL Accommodation team on guest-bookings@ucl.ac.uk or +44 (0)20 3108 4455.
