Many people who have depression and low mood are prescribed antidepressants by their General Practitioner (GP).  However, antidepressants are also helpful for anxiety symptoms that commonly occur alongside depression and low mood. By anxiety we mean symptoms such as excessive, unpleasant worrying or feeling generally anxious, nervous, or tense.

For people with anxiety about half of people will find antidepressants effective.  For those that do not we hope to find out if pregabalin, an effective anti-anxiety treatment, will help when taken at the same time as an antidepressant.
