Hazardous Waste Chemical Audit
13 July 2021
Waste is hazardous when its composition or properties present a danger to the UCL community and environment. Safety Services is conducting a Chemical Waste Audit so that we can ensure that UCL has sufficient facilities to store hazardous chemical waste.
Departmental Safety Officers are being invited to complete a Waste Audit Checklist so that we can understand the type and amount of chemcial waste that we are producing.
All departments MUST complete the Waste Audit Checklist by Friday 30 July 2021 - even if your department does not produce any hazardous chemical waste.
Once you have provided your departmental details there are five multiple choice questions and two free-text questions to answer. If your department does not produce hazardous waste there is only one multiple choice question. You can complete the audit multiple times if your department has more than one area producing hazardous waste.

Laboratory Smalls Collections Suspended
UCL is changing the way it manages chemical waste and to ensure that these changes are carried out safely, UCL Estates has suspended the regular pick up of lab smalls for the period 1 July 2021 to 6 August 2021 (3 pickups) on the Bloomsbury Campus. This will not affect the bulk pick ups, including solvent waste or lab smalls collections, on non-Bloomsbury campus locations.
Laboratory smalls must be safely stored in the laboratory until the collections re-commence. If you cannot do this please contact efdservices@ucl.ac.uk for assistance.
