Julian Graffy

Current and former SSEES staff, students and colleagues from academia came together this week to celebrate Julian Graffy, Professor of Russian Literature and Cinema, who is retiring at the end of this term. Tributes were paid to Julian for his distinguished career at SSEES and his dedication to the many students who have benefitted from his outstanding abilities. Through his enormous personal effort during his 37 years at SSEES, Julian built up the SSEES Library Russian film collection which has become one of the most extensive outside of Russia. It was announced at the party that the Library would name the film collection in his honour, as a mark of the enormous contribution he has made to the development of the study of Russian film.
